The bottom line

TouchBistro’s restaurant POS starts at $69 a month for software, or $119 a month with hardware included. Card processing is extra on both, and TouchBistro doesn’t publish its rates. Neither does it publish prices for its add-ons.

So you can’t price TouchBistro fully without a quote. On $30,000 a month in card sales, every 0.1% of rate is worth $30 a month. Get the full rate in writing.

Who it’s for

  • Restaurants. TouchBistro calls its product “easy-to-use POS software built just for restaurants.”
  • Restaurants that want to keep their processor. TouchBistro says it “is compatible with a wide range of payment processing solutions.”
  • Restaurants that bank with Chase. TouchBistro says Chase customers get funds by the next business day.

Who should skip it

  • Owners who want to compare every fee before a sales call. Card rates and add-on prices aren’t published.
  • Single-terminal spots that want to finance hardware. TouchBistro offers financing only for two or more terminals.
  • Small counter-service spots. A $0 plan with published rates, like Square, is easier to price.

The catch

No published card rates. Processing is extra on both plans, at a rate you only learn from a quote.

Starting prices. Both the $69 and $119 plans are “starting at.”

Add-ons are quote only. Kitchen display, online ordering, loyalty and reservations are all “Get a Quote.”

Slower deposits outside Chase. Other banks can take 1 to 4 business days.

What it costs at your size

These are estimates. Because TouchBistro doesn’t publish its rates, they show what the quote needs to beat. They assume $30,000 a month in card sales across 1,200 payments (a $25 average), one location, and every card paid in person.

What a quote is worth. Every 0.1% of rate costs $30 a month at this size. Every 1¢ of fee per payment costs $12 a month.

What it needs to beat. SpotOn’s POS Essentials plan publishes its rate, so we can price it:

  • SpotOn Essentials: 2.45% × $30,000 = $735, plus 1,200 × 15¢ = $180, plus $55 for one station = $970 a month, plus hardware

On TouchBistro’s $119 Essentials Bundle, which includes hardware, processing would need to come in at $851 a month or less to match that. That’s about 2.84% of your sales, all fees included. A quote above that costs you more than SpotOn Essentials, before SpotOn’s hardware and implementation costs.

Plug your quote into the fee calculator to check.

Compared with

  • Toast: restaurant POS from $69 a month, with cards at 2.49% on traditional pricing or 3.09% pay-as-you-go. Toast doesn’t publish a cents fee, and it only runs on approved Toast hardware.
  • SpotOn: month-to-month POS Essentials at $55 per station, with 2.45% + 15¢ in person published. Amex costs 3.19% + 15¢, and you can’t use your own hardware.

Common questions

How much does TouchBistro cost per month?

TouchBistro lists its Point of Sale plan at "starting at $69 /month" for software, with hardware, payment processing and other fees extra. Its Essentials Bundle starts at $119 a month and includes hardware and integrated payments, with processing fees extra. A Custom setup is by quote. All of these are starting prices.

What are TouchBistro's credit card processing fees?

TouchBistro doesn't publish them. Its pricing page says payment processing fees apply on both plans, but lists no rate. So ask for a written quote showing the percentage, any cents fee per payment, and the Amex, online and keyed-in rates. Then compare it with providers that publish their rates.

Can I use my own payment processor with TouchBistro?

TouchBistro says it "is compatible with a wide range of payment processing solutions." So you may be able to keep a processor you already like. Ask TouchBistro which processors it works with, and whether the price of its software or bundle changes if you don't use TouchBistro Payments.

How fast does TouchBistro pay out?

TouchBistro says that if you bank with Chase, you can expect funds by the next business day. With other banks, it can take 1 to 4 business days. If you need cash quickly and don't bank with Chase, ask TouchBistro how long deposits usually take with your bank.
